Reset an Airport Base Station to factory defaults

  1. Install and run your Airport Utility  (Click here for Windows)
  2. Update the Airport Utility (if connected to the Internet)
  3. Connect the Airport to a computer by direct Ethernet connection.
  4. Unplug the base station from power.
  5. Press and hold the reset button with a straightened paperclip, then plug the base station back in while continuing to hold the button for approximately 5 seconds until you see the three status lights glow come on, then go back off, then start to come on again (re-initializing.)
  6. Release the button. The base station will factory default reset.
  7. You should now see the default "Base Station" appear in the Airport list of your Airport Utility.
